Welcome to the Building Blocks Working Group

Overview

This group is a collaborative forum focused on the identification and development of interoperability specifications that support the building blocks outlined in the Pan‑Canadian Interoperability Roadmap. It does this by enabling coordination and knowledge sharing among jurisdictions, vendors, and other stakeholders to define common, standards‑based components that can be reused across digital health solutions. This matters because achieving interoperability at scale requires shared expectations for data, access, exchange, and trust that are developed incrementally and applied consistently across the health system.

Ultimately, this work helps align ecosystem participants on foundational capabilities that support predictable, repeatable, and interoperable digital health implementations.

Who it’s for

Intended for jurisdictions, vendors, policymakers, standards organizations, and digital health stakeholders involved in designing, developing, or implementing interoperability specifications and foundational capabilities within Canada’s digital health ecosystem.
